Our History

1930

Starline, a brand of Legrand, has a history dating back to the 1930s when it began as Allegheny Electric Company.

1960-1988

Initially focused on improving safety in manufacturing, the company pioneered the U-S Safety Trolley in the 1960s before inventing the track busway in 1988.

1996

Further growth and expansion brought about rebranding as Universal Electric Corporation in 1996.

2019

In 2019, Legrand acquired Starline, integrating its power distribution products into the company’s larger portfolio of customizable electronic infrastructure solutions.

Today

Today, Starline continues to press forward as a leader in power distribution, coupling industry-leading product innovation with a genuine concern for safety and sustainability in power-dense and compute-intensive environments including data centers and manufacturing.
